Oh hey, 2021 was quite a year!

I wrote a new book, my fourth, Gravedigger’s Daughter: Vignettes from a Small Kansas Town, start-to-finish, in 2021. And with the help of my editor brother, my photographer husband, and my publishing friend Tracy, the book was published and I had a glorious book launch on November 13 at the Lyon County History Center in Emporia, Kansas.

Gravedigger’s Daughter is a memoir. It’s focused on my relationship with my father, who was, a gravedigger, among other things. He was also a carpenter, a school bus driver and a substitute (later, a full-time) rural mail carrier. Born with ichthyosis, thick and scaly skin, his childhood was a challenge. The story is set in our hometown of Pawnee Rock in the ’60s and ’70s.

The book is available for purchase online at Meadowlark Books. https://bit.ly/3A82WRN
